ETCHING IN COPPER

with Trine Anderschou

25.- 27. april

The course is primarily aimed at intermediate learners, but you will be met at your individual level.

You will work in copper plates, primarily with line etching and the shades of gray in plain aquatint. Basic etching techniques and printing will be demonstrated and tested.

To make the most of the time, it is a good idea to bring a small sketch (approx. 10×10 cm) for an etching, the motif of which is simple and contains parts with the colors white, black and 2 shades of grey.

Prepared copper plates, tarlatan and paper can be purchased at the course. Cold needles and brushes can be borrowed from Trine.

CYANOTYPI

by Lone V. Petersen

28.- 29. juni

Cyanotype is magic and chemistry. It is a printing technique where the sun is used as an exposure source. It is a playful and experimental technique where you cannot always completely control the result. It is also one of the world's oldest photographic printing techniques invented in 1842 by John Herschel. The technique was used in 1843 by the British botanist Anna Atkins for her beautiful and sensuous cyanotypes of seaweed and algae. By mixing two different chemicals and water, a light-sensitive emulsion is obtained, which is applied to paper (or other materials that can withstand being placed in water). We will experiment with lighting times, "wet cyanotype", adding salt, spices, soap suds, etc., and we will try bleaching and toning the cyanotypes. Feel free to bring flowers and plants (possibly pressed) and digital photos that can be used to make transparencies, flat objects, templates... and sunshine!

GELLI-PRINT

By Linea Hansen

AUGUST 22.- 23.

Many artists use the gelli printing technique in combination with their own methods: for example, collography or linoleum; I use it in connection with my fish prints. With these soft plates, you can use acrylic paints, posca markers, etc. and a number of objects to create patterns in the color to get motifs/backgrounds in countless variations. In addition to making color prints, you will also make transfers of photos and a mixture of the two.

It will be possible to purchase a number of plates at Fyns Grafiske Værksted. Bring: All sorts of objects that can create structure in the paint. Cardboard, plastic, textiles e.g. old lace, feathers, metal objects e.g. capsules and keys, seed pods and plant parts.
